Well as of today Mount Washington has 340cm! and Mount Cain has 200cm! What a great season...the reason I'm writing the news today is because I have added another page to the site. For a quite a while some people have been asking for a map with the location of all the resorts... so I whipped up a map, you need Java to view the map. If you do not have Java click the link on the Resort Map page to download the newest version. The map contains all the resorts currently in the database, the map is looking pretty thin up north... I'm definitely missing resorts, if anyone out there can find a resort I'm missing please email us, or post the info for the missing resort(s) in the forums. I want a COMPLETE list of resorts. Thats it for now. |

Even those of us with brutal hangovers had an amazing powder day on Mount Cain last weekend. The snow was deep and light, very effective for hiding the evidence. It was encouraging to see many first timers on the hill. Friday night’s Jet FM snow report of over 50cm must have made a difference. Word on the gravel road is that many skiers rushed to tear up the Outback on Mount Washington. Long lift line ups in the morning let up in the afternoon as the terrain took a toll on egos and soft tissues. We have yet to taste what this area has to offer, but it’s so hard to make that left turn when the North beckons. |

The waiting is finally over, Mount Washington’s new 400 plus acres of terrain opens tomorrow. January 13, 2006 will see the official opening of the double black diamond terrain known as the Outback. Early this week members from Addicted to Powder rode the front side of the Boomerang chair and drooled as we peered down into the bowls beyond. There is no doubt that this is just what the doctor ordered to improve the mountain as a destination for expert skiers looking for a challenge. With a northeast aspect we should see wind blown powder collect in the back bowls making for some terrific riding. If you can get up there, you should. |

The new year is off to a great start! It's snowing here on the island, both Mount Cain and Mount Washington are open and getting good snow. Whistler got a 35cm dump in the last 24 hours, Big White and Silver Star are getting consistant snow most days, Fernie got 33cm in the last 48 hours. Much better than last year. Only bad news (old news Dec 20th) is that Hemlock apparently will not be open this year due to sale of the mountain that did not go through.. that sucks. Thats the news.

Mount Cain is finally open. It has been far too long. Check out the new links we have just added. Ski Deep Stuff lists a daily report of the top twenty five new snow falls in North America. There is a very cool animated satellite image as well as a link to world wide snow reports. See you on Mount Cain next weekend. |
