Addicted to Powder VIDEO 1

Well I was going through a bunch of old video and decided to throw together a video, the first of a series of videos. I will be adding a video section to the site shortly but for now here it is!

Mount Cain rocked this weekend. We had some great skiing. Peter’s telemark binding broke apart as he descending the upper T-bar track. A piece of the binding flew through the air barely missing someone riding the lift. Fortunately it was telefest and dealers were demoing G3s. They hooked him up with a set of Rapid Transits and we were off. Almost as fast as a NASCAR pit stop. Peter really dug the ascent feature on the loaner’s bindings. We were entertained as John Fogerty opened for the Eagles reunion tour. Over breakfast we checked out the four page spread about Mount Cain in the latest issue of Ski Canada magazine. Rumor has it this was one of the biggest Telefests ever. I didn’t make it to the pot luck dinner but I understand there was a cornucopia of edibles and a great time was had by all, as usual. We were tempted into the backcountry on Saturday as the cloud cover broke for a little while. Like a siren the untouched POW drew us closer to the unknown. Under vibrant blue skies we contemplated just how stable that snow pack was. We opted to stay in. Many didn’t and survived but most of those guys know their Sh*t. I sure don’t.

Well the spammers have won :( .. I'm going to have to remove the forum from the website in the next few days. I just cannot keep up with the amount of spammers hitting the forums. The amount of real posting currently is pretty minimal so it's not a big loss. If anyone has signed up in the last 2 weeks or so and have not got a response I'm sorry but I get 20-30 spammers a day adding accounts and I can't figure out who is legit and who is a spammer. If anyone out there has a solution to the problem I am open to ideas..

The crazy weather has been the lead story for weeks; I have been without power on no less than seven different occasions. Fortunately twenty six hours was the longest stretch we had to endure. Klaus on the other hand went without for four days. Over Christmas I was able to ski at Sun Peaks Resort and was blessed with a powder day on my first ever visit. We were greeted by parking attendants on horseback complete with cowboy hats. We rode on eight to ten cm of fresh while another eight to ten fell on us. This was the lightest and fluffiest powder I have ever had the pleasure to experience. The runs are very long even by Whistler Mountain standards. Despite the legendary expert terrain of what was once known as Mount Tod beginners and intermediates will find all kinds of great riding on varied and challenging terrain Considering that we were at the resort over Christmas the hill was relatively uncrowded. I don’t recall a wait in the lift lineup over five minutes. If you find Whistler Village a very plastic and theme park like atmosphere you will dig the cowboy feel of the resort. If you are lucky enough to hit this resort on a powder day you will not be disappointed. Happy New Year and think snow.

Mount Washington opened on November 30, 2006. This was one of the best opening days in their history. Those who were able to weasel the day off work were rewarded with thirty centimeters of fresh powder on top of a one hundred and seventy centimeter base. The fresh powder brought out all the die hards for their early season fix. By Friday December 1, 2006 most of the fresh lines had been carved up. Coverage on the heavily traveled runs can get a bit thin later in the day as the moguls pile up. Watch out in wind blown areas for debris. Keep your new skis/boards at home for a little while longer to avoid rocking your bases. The Outback should be open soon if the snow keeps coming. We remain cautiously optimistic for a great season. Mount Cain opens on December 9th and we hope to see you all there. Keep your eyes open for Addicted to Powder members handing out promotional materials. Think snow!!!!!
